Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information the PHD MAP mobile app collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
a. Account and profile information
When you register, we collect your first, middle, and last name and suffix, email address, and phone number, and a password (stored only as a secure hash, never in plain text).
b. Vehicle information
If you choose to add a vehicle, we collect its plate number, brand, model, color, and type. Vehicle details are optional.
c. Location information
- Precise location (while using the app): With your permission, we use your device location while the app is open to show parking spaces near you and to provide directions. We do not access your location in the background or when the app is closed.
- Anonymous location sharing (optional): If you enable it in Settings, the app sends approximate location (rounded to a ~150-meter cell) at most once every 10 minutes while the app is visible, to build anonymous parking-demand heatmaps. These readings are not linked to your account, device, or any identifier, exact coordinates are discarded, and you can turn this off at any time. (See Section 4 for retention.)
d. Photos
If you list or edit a parking space, or update your profile photo, you may upload images from your photo library. We access your photo library only when you choose to pick an image. Uploaded images are stored on our secure cloud storage.
e. Content and activity you create
We collect the parking spaces you list, favorites you save, parking requests or claims you make, and related bookings, so the service can function.
f. Usage and analytics data
When you perform actions such as searching for parking, viewing a space, saving a favorite, or tapping “Directions,” we record the action with a coarse location (rounded to ~150 meters) to measure where demand exists. These records do not include your account or device identifier.
g. Technical data
We process standard technical data needed to operate the service (e.g., IP address for network requests, app version, and authentication tokens stored securely on your device).
2. How we use your information
We use the information above to:
- Create and manage your account and authenticate you;
- Show nearby parking, provide directions, and enable listing, claiming, and booking of parking spaces;
- Store and display images you upload;
- Understand demand and improve parking coverage (via anonymous/aggregated data);
- Maintain security, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations;
- Communicate with you about your account or the service.
3. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with advertisers. We share information only with:
- Service providers who process data on our behalf, including:
- Our cloud storage/CDN provider for hosting uploaded images;
- OpenRouteService for directions/routing — when you request directions, route coordinates are sent to generate the route;
- Map data providers used to render the map.
- Legal / safety: where required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
- Aggregated, non-identifying data: we may share anonymous, aggregated heatmap or demand data with research partners or in public reports.
4. Data retention
- Account and profile data: retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward as required for legal, security, or operational purposes, then deleted or anonymized.
- Uploaded images and listings: retained while your account/listing is active.
- Anonymous heatmap readings: individual readings retained at most 7 days, then aggregated into hourly counts per 150-meter cell and deleted; aggregated counts may be kept up to 2 years.
- Detailed analytics records: retained at most 30 days, then aggregated into long-term, non-identifying counts.
5. Data security
Passwords are stored as secure hashes. Authentication tokens are stored in your device’s secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore). Data in transit is protected with standard HTTPS/TLS encryption. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.
6. Your rights and choices
- Access, correction, deletion: You may access or update your profile in the app, and you may request access to or deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting us at Innoventions@r-a-ones.com.
- Location:You can disable location access in your device settings, and turn off anonymous location sharing in the app’s Settings → Privacy at any time. Because anonymous readings are not linked to you, we cannot identify or delete specific anonymous entries after collection — by design, they are not personal data once collected.
- Photos: You control which images you upload; the app accesses your library only when you pick an image.
Canada — PIPEDA
Where the data we collect is personal information, we handle it in accordance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Our basis for collection is your consent, which you may withdraw at any time. If you have concerns, you may contact us or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
7. Children’s privacy
PHD MAP is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. International users
We are based in Canada and process data there and with the service providers listed above. By using the app you consent to this processing.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new “Effective date,” and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
